The ‘Optimus’ keyboard has tiny OLED screens embedded in each key, allowing it to display context information on the fly. In Photoshop? You’ve got Photoshop icons, complete with alt functions (at least in my head this is how it works).

OLED screens are massively expensive, though, especially full-color ones, so I’d say this is just someone having a good idea—a great idea, actually. When this becomes affordable, we’ll see this happen. In a story entitled “Das erste Bier-Schwimmbad der Welt,” which we assume translates to “Please Don’t Pee In Our Beer Pool,” it appears that the city of Tarrenz now has a pool filled with sweet, sweet liquid bread. But don’t try drinking from the beer pool directly—according to this Babelfished translation, you don’t swim in a cool, crisp lager but in filtered, yeasty wort. Yum! (Thanks, Dennis)
Everyone [We’re assuming this means every tank - Ed] is filled with approximately 20,000 litres barley juice. However the beer does not flow by any means freshtapped from the cock. The original fermenting tanks made of high-grade steel are filled with the so-called Biergelaeger, the remainder yeast, which sets off when brewing in the beer tank.

The first beer swimming pool in the world [Bild]

Sony Ericsson D750 coming to America?

>

Related entries: Cellphones

Is the Sony Ericsson D750 finally coming to America? She found out the hard way that while pulling a gun on the Best Buy television repairman and telling him that, “You’re not leaving until the TV is fixed,” actually isn’t a good way to get your TV fixed, it is an excellent way to get yourself charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment. The repairman, who had already tried and failed to fix her TV several times, calmed her down by calling Best Buy and getting them to agree to give her a new TV, then left and called the cops.
Read

PlayStation 3 to launch without bundled hard disk?

Sony Computer Entertainment's chief technology officer Masayuki Chatani has cast doubt on the company's plans to include a hard disk unit in the PlayStation 3's launch package next spring.

read more | digg story

Wireless USB is Go for Holiday Launch

I love me some Bluetooth, and for low-power applications, like phones and other mobile devices, it gets the job done. It appears that Cohen and a few others are getting ready to launch a BitTorrent search engine. Prior to this, the main reason that BitTorrent wasn't getting sued, was because it was clear that the technology was just the protocol. Suing over BitTorrent would be like suing "FTP" or "SMTP email." It's just the protocol. The real issue, was the ability to search and find unauthorized material -- which BitTorrent was totally separate from... until now. Hollywood has already gone after other BitTorrent search engines. While we agree that running such a search engine should be perfectly legal, clearly the entertainment industry doesn't see things that way. After all, it's just a search engine finding what's already out there. There shouldn't be anything illegal about that. However, with the Supreme Court still figuring out the final decision in the Grokster case, it seems like this BitTorrent search engine is the type of thing entertainment industry lawyers will pounce on. Of course, maybe that will just lead to another landmark lawsuit. The BitTorrent folks are being smart about the positioning on this one, by the way. They're making it clear that they view this BitTorrent search engine as a way for anyone to distribute their own, homemade video works -- rather than a system used to support unauthorized transfers of content.

Microsoft takes a look at the Playstation 3

Major Nelson has an exhaustive look at the specs of the PS3 vs. 360. Microsoft engineers sat down and took a look at what Sony placed on the table. Sure, the engineers are biased — they made the 360 after all. But we’re sure y’all will call them on any spinning.

The four parter breaks down the battle by CPU, GPU and bandwidth. I’ll leave it to the pros out there to make heads or tails out of it, but Major’s conclusion wraps it up with a well-mannered glove in Sony’s face.

”When you break down the numbers, Xbox 360 has provably more performance than PS3. Keep in mind that Sony has a track record of over promising and under delivering on technical performance. The truth is that both systems pack a lot of power for high definition games and entertainment.”

Microsoft seems to be comfortable with where they are hardware-wise. The one thing I can say for sure is they don’t have anything to fear on the services side. Xbox Live! is alone at the top, and no one seems interested in trying to take them down. Yeah, everyone’s trying to throw in multimedia thingies, too. But unless those thingies make my games more fun…bah!

Read

Netbux paid its members, it was no scam.

All the payments have been audited, processed and submitted. We’ll know for sure later on today, of course, but we’ll throw this out there for your perusal. There aren’t really too many new details that accompany this image, other than that it’ll be two to three times more powerful that the GameCube, plus some PR about how game designers will find it “easier to create games” for the Revolution as opposed to the Xbox 360 or the PS3... sure, sure. While the device's price has not yet been set, its release window--spring 2006--has. Flanked by Sony Computer Entertainment America President and CEO Kaz Hirai, SCE head Ken Kutaragi introduced it as a "supercomputer for computer entertainment."

PS3 pics and specs: leaked?

Disclaimer, disclaimer, yadda yadda. We’re kind of hoping these pics aren’t legit because frankly, we’re not feelin’ the love for the design. But we digress! The specs that accompany these shots are saying the Sony PS3 will have wireless controllers, a 160GB hard disk, 1 CELL processor running at 4GHz (pumping out 256 GFLOPS worth of power — getting close to 1.21 gigawatts, here, folks), ethernet port, USB 2.0, memory stick duo support, and will read Blu-ray disks only. Backward compatibility for the older systems won’t be via the drive mechanism, then, but will be achieved via emulation in the CELL processor itself, providing retro compatibility with both PS1 and PS2. Controllers will be very similar to the PS2 controllers, plus add wireless. All of the above will be seen in the first line, to be released in Japan in March 2006, with a second version to follow in late 2006 that will be sporting a 400GB hard drive. The rev2 will also apparently be able to record TV shows on Blu-ray disks (like we said: disclaim, disclaim…). More nitty gritty specs via the read link, and another pic after the jump.

Read

Preston & Steve

The Preston & Steve Show Begins This Monday Morning 6:00am-10:00am.

XBOX 360 MTV Special Torrent

For any of you out there who didn't catch the special, or for those of you who did and want to see it again, here is a torrent of it. The easiest way to hot-wire a car is just to get under the dash-board and start crossing wires, of course, this could short out the entire electrical system so of course there is a better way.

When you get in the car, look under the dash,if it's enclosed, then don't even bother. unfortunatly, most new cars are like this. however you could always cut through them. if you do decide to cut, cut near the ignition. once you get behind or near the ignition, look for 2 red wires. in older cars red was the standard color, if not red the look for 2 matched pairs.

When you find wires that look right, cross them and hop-in!

You got your-self a car!

Okay, office drones — this one’s for you. The StealthSwitch is a footswitch that will keep your <strike>porn</strike> browsing habits private. The microprocessor-based device completely hides whatever off-limits <strike>games</strike> applications you’re running, so when a co-worker or manager walks by your cubicle, all it takes is the flick of a switch under your desk to throw up that boring old annual report or Excel spreadsheet. With the $39.99 StealthSwitch, you can always look hard at work when you’re hardly working. Set preferences to mute the sound, hide the taskbar, hide all desktop icons, and password protect the restore function as well — because you know they check up on you when you head to the restroom.

Read

Xbox 360 Controller Revealed?

Gaming Horizon is hosting a picture of what they claim to be the new Xbox 360 controller.
